Interpretation is essentially storytelling. It's the name given to the process of explaining the significance of a site to visitors and conveying why and how a place is important. All good interpretation is based on the simple premise of aiming to relate, provoke and reveal. That is to relate the story being presented to the lives of the audience, to provoke the audience to react to the story, to feel curious and to want to find out more, and to reveal to the audience something new, interesting and exciting.
